On Tuesday morning 30 June 2020, I had an unusual dream. We are now officially halfway through the year and I believe we are stepping into unprecedented glory but there is a strong warning for the Body of Christ going forward, “Follow the Cloud, not the crowd.”
In the dream, I was meeting an old friend at McDonald’s. While I was there two dogs got into a fight. I did not see or hear the fight, but I did see the aftermath. The dogs were huge. Both of them were Pitbulls but the size of each was much greater than a regular Pitbull. One was brown and white and the other black. The brown and white dog killed the bigger, black dog but was itself seriously injured. There was a crowd of people surrounding the dogs in shock at what had just taken place. I slipped through the crowd and the dogs unnoticed and unharmed and left the restaurant.
Interpretation of the dream
This dream is specifically speaking both to individual hearts and the Body of Christ Corporate. Why? Because corporate revival starts with personal revival. In this season, the Lord is dealing with motivations of the heart and soulish matters. This is where we must start.
Meeting at McDonald’s represents both a place of personal communion and fellowship with God and the Church where the Son rules over everything. This is actually the significance of the name “McDonald”. The dogs have multiple and layered meanings. There has been an assignment of the enemy sent to the Church (particularly in the West) to bring great division with personal attacks and biting, stinging words from peoples’ mouths. We are literally tearing one another apart with our words. My Beloved brothers and sisters, this “ought not to be so”.
Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.
James 3:10, NKJV
These dogs epitomise a direct strategy of hell to tear apart the Church before we can shift into the greatest outpouring of the Spirit we have ever seen.
These are wells without water, clouds carried by a tempest, for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.
2 Peter 2:17, NKJV
At evening they return,
They growl like a dog,
And go all around the city.
Indeed, they belch with their mouth;
Swords are in their lips;
For they say, “Who hears?”
Psalm 59:6-7, NKJV
Look out for those dogs [Judaizers, legalists], look out for those mischief-makers, look out for those who mutilate the flesh.
Philippians 3:2, AMPC
The brown and white dog represents those of us believers who have come into agreement with a spirit of rejection. If we in any way see ourselves as ‘damaged’ and ‘marred’ rather than whole and Beloved, we may need to check our heart to see if we have partnered with rejection. If you are a prophet or prophetic person you need to fortify yourself against this attack with greater vigilance.
If we partner with rejection we are open to the other weapons the enemy has fashioned in this season. These are condemnation and heaviness or depression. The black dog in the dream was actually larger and is a warning to break agreements with these spirits so their influence in our lives cannot grow and cause us great injury and harm.
[Israel’s] watchmen are blind, they are all without knowledge; they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; dreaming, lying down, they love to slumber.
Isaiah 56:10, AMPC
Let us not be accused of slumbering and not watching for what the Spirit is saying to the Church presently. Remember, condemnation does not belong in the head of the believer led by the Spirit of God.
There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
Romans 8:1, NKJV
Shake off a spirit of religion in the Name of Jesus!
Application of the dream
The friend I met at McDonald’s in my dream has a name which means “champion”, “winner” and “cloud”. This is a distinct strategy for overcoming this dangerously, personal attack of the enemy in this season. “Follow the Cloud, not the crowd,” is what I heard the Lord clearly saying as I was praying through this dream interpretation. This is none other than the glory cloud and the greater glory which has been prophesied by many prophetic voices in recent times.
The Lord was going before them in a pillar of cloud by day to lead them on the way, and in a pillar of fire by night to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night.
Exodus 13:21, NASB
Do not be led by the crowd and be drawn into fruitless arguments in this season. Division is a tactic of the enemy.
Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces.
Matthew 7:6, NKJV
Leave the dogs alone and pass on by.
He who passes by and meddles in a quarrel not his own
Is like one who takes a dog by the ears.
Proverbs 26:17, NKJV
So, how do we follow the cloud? I believe now more than ever we must press into the place of intimacy and be truly led by the Holy Spirit. I sense an urgency in my spirit this is crucial for the days ahead. We have only begun to see the shaking of both the heavens and the earth in these difficult days. Nations of the West are dividing socially, culturally, racially and morally. To navigate all the uncertainty we must follow the glory cloud and not the dissenting and often loud voices of the mob. This is of greatest importance in the Church as I have seen heartbreaking division over social justice and moral issues to name a few. I’m not talking about unbelievers persecuting us with their words. That is a given. The real persecution is coming from within the four walls of the Church and we must protect ourselves from the onslaught by hiding ourselves in Him.
Practice discernment and stick close to Him at this time. Choose your friends wisely. Follow the Cloud, not the crowd.
