Pierced to the Heart ~ Reflections from Acts

“Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what are we to do?” Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far away, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.”⠀

Acts 2:37-39 NASB⠀

I love how the NASB renders this passage–“pierced to the heart”. The words of Peter delivered in the power of the Holy Spirit brought great conviction on those who heard them. They then asked what they needed to do to be saved. ⠀

Likewise, may our words also be anointed with Holy Spirit power to pierce hearts and bring conviction. Conviction always leads to Godly sorrow and repentance which brings us to salvation. It is very difficult to the feeling of condemnation. The Holy Spirit does not condemn. That is the work of the enemy. When the Lord is speaking to you, you will feel the tugging on your heart. It is in that moment we must yield and surrender to His call. He wants to come in and work mightily today. ⠀

If you have not yet opened your heart to Jesus, I encourage you to do so today. Do not delay. Repent and be baptised. You will receive peace, joy, everlasting life and the Holy Spirit who is your constant comfort and help. ⠀

If you already know Jesus, then open your heart wider today. Let Him reveal to you deep secrets of the heart. He always reveals to heal and His plans are redemptive. You can trust Him today. ⠀
